Aperture
Framed with natural wood-in-glass, a building skin that is the first of its kind
Aperture
Aperture is a distinctive residential development in Vancouver's Oakridge neighbourhood, comprising two six-storey concrete buildings and four two-storey laneway villas across 101,000 square feet. Positioned as a gateway to the planned Oakridge precinct redevelopment, the project sets a high standard for luxury, style, and sustainability in one of the city's most significant urban hubs. The building achieved LEED Gold certification and features a signature facade inspired by camera apertures, with individually calibrated window frames designed to maximize natural light while minimizing glare based on each home's unique solar orientation throughout the year.
Completed in 2017, Aperture is a project where architectural concept and construction precision work in lockstep. Delivering the building's state-of-the-art envelope system and technically driven facade required close collaboration between Urban One, the design team, and trade contractors to realize a detail-intensive design without compromise.
